Best Songs for Wedding Reception
« on: November 26, 2011, 10:29:09 PM »
If there’s a dinner, there’ll be music too. What songs should I play for my guests during the dinner? I want some love songs but I didn’t them to be slow and boring. A good mixed should be okay.

Maybe you should ask around or just think about what you remember of what kinds of bands they like. I know that I personally like Rock 'n roll or fast dance music. However, everyone's difference. You could also do 50s and 60s music.

I love Yiruma’s songs. Yiruma is a popular pianist from South Korea. He plays beautiful tunes about love and nature. It will capture your wonderful moments with your loved one by just listening to these kinds of songs.

I'm a sucker for the oldies. Songs like "Lady in Red" and just about anything from Neil Diamond puts me in the Romantic mood.

I’ll suggest you to learn some piano lesson and play it yourself for your spouse. The song that I think will suit a wedding is Canon in D.

Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to the Moon! Short, popular, happy and sweet!

Actually you gave me another idea. My brother is pretty good with guitar, piano and most instruments. I never thought about live music. Hmmm, maybe this is the way to go. Any thoughts?

Oh I thought you were talking about the Reception. Yeah, playing Canon in D is a great idea. My mom had to use a CD for her wedding. I wish I woulda thought about learning it to play for her then. Oh, and my brother and his wife had that song at their wedding.

Most likely anything slow and romantic. Maybe you should consider the ages of your guests. If they are mostly older than you, choose music from earlier generation. If the are your age, choose mostly from your generation, or choose music from the younger generation if most of the people are younger than you.

Yeah that's very true. I agree with you, a wedding song should be very slow, sappy and romantic. Personally, I think 'Eternal Flame' is a really good song for the wedding reception.

Like the others said, definitely something slow and romantic.

I also think you should choose something that you both really like. Not focus so much on what the guests would like. It's your day!

I think a good mix of music, this of course depends on the age of your guests as well. The younger crowd may like something a bit more upbeat rather than something slow and those that are a bit older may like the complete opposite. Consider meeting somewhere part way to ensure there is a good mix for everyone's taste.
