What Metal or Stone for your Engagement Ring?

What metal or stone did you buy or would you prefer to have for your engagement ring? I personally like white gold or silver. I would like that instead of gold, and it would be nice to have an emerald instead of a diamond. Does anyone do this?

I really don't like gold. But silver or white gold would be really beautiful.

And diamond all the way.

It depends on your wallet. Platinum will never loose its colour but personally i like Silver and White gold, these are durable metal.

I think white gold or silver would be enchanting. I'm trying to remember, is white gold the same as platinum?
