Would you use Facebook to Plan a Wedding
« on: November 22, 2011, 02:33:57 PM »
Hello. I'm new here.

I'm planning my wedding now and wanted to ask if anyone would or have used facebook to plan their wedding. One of my friends recommended it but I'm far from a computer geek. I was told the best way was to use Facebook's calendar to do the planning and send out invitations electronically.

Anyways, any feedback or thoughts on using facebook to plan a wedding would be appreciated.

Not a bad idea. I plan a school reunion with facebook so there is no doubt that you can use facebook to plan your wedding.

After you signed up for Facebook you will want to invite all your fiends to share your account.

Next you can start an Facebook Event. Your Event will show up on your Friends Walls

The great thing about using Events is that any time a friend interacts with your Wedding Event, that person's friends all see something in their News Feeds about the Event.

It is pretty simple and once you get started just follow the instructions. If you have any questions, let me know.

You could send out the invitations out electronically. However, there is nothing like receiving a hand-printed message in the mail. Of course, due to time or money constraints sometimes sending invites via Facebook or e-mail might be the way to go. It would work for a wedding quickly planned or a less formal planned celebration.

I have a friend who plans her wedding by using Facebook a year before her real wedding. She will start to post questions on her status to do her own wedding research such as asking opinion about the best restaurant, the best photographer, the wedding gown, the best honeymoon spot and more.

That's a good idea. Never thought of that! I should've mentioned that I heard about a long-distance wedding of a cousin on FB. :)

Wow, yushi1905! Your fan is the true Facebook freak! I would get annoyed with that kind of status if I were you. It’s like she’s trying to seek for attentions and telling the whole world that she’s the best bride. Maybe she was just too happy.

Using Facebook to confirm addresses before sending invitation card is a good idea. There are a lot of our friends might have move to somewhere else so the fastest way to get their replies the attendance is through Facebook or online social networks.

Facebook is a good way to announce your wedding to your friends and family. We can use it to check the attendance as well so that you will be able to do a more accurate budget for food and the other things. However, I won’t be going into too details on Facebook.

I guess FB is a tool for wedding planning that is more popular now than ever. I wonder if handing out invitations in mail is still done more often than electronically nowadays. However, within the past three years I've received some invites in the mail.

I don't know or understand the whole story because I'm new here. I thought maybe the person was using Facebook as a planning tool not to show off. But I don't want to feed into any flaming. LOL I'm just new here so what do I know? I may use Facebook to help me though. I mean, after all if a third or so of my FB friends would be my guests anyway then I wouldn't mind hearing their input.

I wouldn't mind using FB as a way to remind people of the date. I also wouldn't mind using it for planning, but I still want to send traditional paper invitations.

I probably will use Facebook to announce my wedding and remind people of the date. I wouldn't plan my entire wedding on it though.
